The house has been luxuriously furnished and equipped in a contemporary open plan style with high ceilings, large living areas and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that provide stupendous panoramic views from every room. Entering from the front door or garage to the upper level of the house, you find two master bedrooms and two guest bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom and private balcony. The master bedrooms have a bath and shower in the open plan area allowing you to admire the view as you bathe. All King beds can be split into two single beds. They also have TVs. One of the guest rooms has its own kitchenette area, making it self-contained. Descending the stairs, you find the large open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge areas. The beautiful custom-made brass-topped dining table seats twelve people. The lounge offers a gorgeous, soft, sectional sofa facing a 60 inch television above a double-sided wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is fully-equipped and offers an induction hob and four ovens - giving a huge range of cooking options. Outside there is a covered balcony with braai/barbeque, again overlooking the sea, as well as a quiet shaded courtyard to the rear. The scullery/laundry behind the kitchen contains fridge-freezer and facilities for washing and drying dishes and clothes. On this floor there are two more bedrooms, each with a private balcony. One bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and the other bedroom shares the bathroom next to it with the main living area. Descending the stairs from the main living area to the pool through the secure Trellidor, you find a fifteen-meter swimming pool that varies in depth between 1m and 1.8m, enabling real swimming. The pool has a bikini seat along most of its length allowing you and your family and friends to relax in the cooling water, and admire the view of the mountains and the bay. The pool deck has four loungers and four deck chairs. To your right is a large TV lounge with soft seating and a kitchen area, surrounded on two sides by folding glass doors that open the room completely to the pool area. There is a pool shower room and changing room. Power outages: South Africa is currently experiencing scheduled power outages last a couple of hours up to 3 times a day. The high power consumption items: the two oven, the induction hob, the air-conditioning and the pool pump that heats the pool, will only run on mains power and are not available in a power outage . The rest of the house equipment, including lights, TV, WiFi/internet, electric blinds and doors, microwave oven and fridges, is powered by a solar power and battery system. Feature summary: • Three level house with 570 square meters of enclosed area. • Contemporary open plan design with beautiful furnishings. • Six bedrooms each with super-king beds that can be configured into two singles. • Heated fifteen-meter swimming pool with motor driven retractable cover. • Four televisions offering individual DSTV, Internet TV and Blu Ray/DVD viewing. • High band-width internet connection with mesh-based wifi enabling you to move around the house without losing connection. • Tiled flooring with underfloor heating throughout, individually controllable in each room. • Air conditioning in all bedrooms, and evaporative cooling in the reception areas. • Solid fuel braai and interior fireplace. • Dual mains and private water supplies. The house is not subject to water restrictions when the private water supply is in use, which is the normal setup. • Solar power and battery back up system so lights, TV, WiFi/internet, electric blinds and doors continue to operate during a power outage. • Uninterrupted sea and mountain views. • Located on the edge of a nature reserve with a fabulous scenic drive along the coast. • Five minutes’ drive to Gordon’s Bay village with its harbour, beach and restaurants. • Within an hour’s drive of Cape Town, the airport, and the wine growing areas of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek with restaurants and wine tasting opportunities. • Whale watching is possible from the house, all along Clarence Drive and at Hermanus ninety minutes’ drive away. • Security features – 24 hour monitored alarm with steel frame front door, galvanized steel gates around the back door and folding motor-driven steel door (Trellidor) from the pool area to the house. • The house has been designed with safety in mind, however, there are many hard surfaces and other safety concerns for small children – the stairs, bedroom and braai balconies (these have one meter glass balustrades), swimming pool, unfenced block wall below pool with varying height drop of up to five meters.

Stunning - and a swimmer’s paradise
We’ve just returned from our second trip to 22 Protea Drive and it’s still as amazing as the first time we visited. The absolute stand out for me is the pool. At 15m long it’s a decent length to get your laps in and you can clock up 1k in no time. It also has plenty of seating around it for when you want to sip a cooling drink and admire the view. Of course, you can also do this from the benches and loungers or the bean bags in the pool room. The kitchen is a cook’s dream. It has everything you need, should you want to prepare a proper meal, and plenty of space for lots of cooks. Overall, there are four ovens, two fridges, three sinks and a dishwasher so it’s great if you are preparing for a very large crowd. The dining table is huge and seats at least 12. For the men wanting to play with fire, the braai is superb. You can watch the magic happen in the seating area outside as well. Tons of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware (as well as lots of plastic tumblers for the pool). There’s a washing machine and dryer in the pantry, with the washing line a step away. There was plenty of storage in our bedroom, and lovely white bed linen and bundles of towels (extra ones for the pool). There is secure garage parking for two cars. Other seating areas inlude the balconies for five of the six bedrooms, and if you want the coolest bit of the house (without using the air-con) then head for the inner courtyard and sit under the frangipani tree. The views are still to die for, and as it’s looking out over the water of False Bay it’s ever changing. We never feel a great desire to do lots of sightseeing, and just lazing in all day reading a book was a feature this time, but we do take a few trips to the closeby wineries. Hidden Valley is a favourite, not least for the excellent wine-tasting you can do. I recommend the cheese and meat platter. It’s much bigger than a lot of other wineries, and is great value. The view is also beautiful. On our last visit we got to watch some plane acrobatics practising for the Stellenbosch Air Show the following day. Mountainside is a very straightforward journey from the airport. You can walk into Gordon’s Bay (about 35 minutes). Uber also operates and we had no trouble ordering the standard, UberXL or UberBlack. Very good value for money. All in all, a great place to stay – again!

TRULY AMAZING HOUSE AND VIEWS
Having never stayed in abject luxury we were completely overwhelmed by the scale and opulence of this house. The standard of furnishing and equipment is really amazing, truly the best of everything. Ceiling fans and air conditioning were almost perfunctory. The cunningly designed glass balcony sans rails give an uninterrupted view of false bay from your bed in the three huge front bedrooms which have en-suite walk in showers and baths to enjoy the magnificent views from. The small harbour village of Gordons Bay has a very good feel about it with a variety of good quality small bistro bars a 15 minute walk away.

Gorgeous breathtaking bay views from a contemporary mountainside home
Excellent home for a large group staying on the far side of cape town. Views are amazing from sunrise to sunset. The pool is long and somewhat warm depending upon season. The area is windy at times in the morning and evening. Perfect base from which to stage trips for shark cage divining, wineries, and the garden route. In addition to Juanita the property manager there is a caretaker to deal with any issues that may arise such as refiling the wood fuel pellets for the water heater. The elevator was nonfunctional during our stay. There is a lot of glass in this place which allows ocean views from almost every single bedroom (4 top floor, 2 middle floor, and a bonus room on the pool level/ground floor) except one.

Amazing Villa in stunning location
Beautiful, modern, fully-equipped Villa with stunning views. Situated not far from Gordon's Bay centre, where you have access to the beach, restaurants, and shops. The swimming pool is also heated, which is such a big bonus. Whether relaxing on the deck, watching the waves crash to shore, enjoying easy self-catering in the modern dining room, relaxing in the ocean-facing living room, or waking up each morning to incredible ocean views, this villa has it all.

Brilliant property, incredible views and a fantastic location
My wife and I stayed for two weeks at the property, and the experience was absolutely fantastic. We cannot recommend it highly enough. The house itself is a brilliant modern design, recently completed, and built on a slope overlooking False Bay. It’s a terrific location, with easy access to Cape Town, Table Mountain, and no end of truly fantastic wineries. Many of the rooms boast panoramic, floor-to-ceiling windows, with open balconies that allow a perfect view of the bay. We were there at the wrong time of year for whale watching, but could sit on the main balcony eating breakfast while watching dolphins at play in the water. We were in one of the three master bedrooms, with our own large balcony, and views across to Simon’s Town and the Cape Peninsula. It is hard to describe the experience of waking to that view, with the sun coming up and Table Mountain in the distance. Or the closing of the day, when the lights of Simon’s Town twinkle along the shore and the waters gently lap on the beaches below. Incredibly relaxing! Sitting in the ten meter swimming pool in the evening, a glass of wine in hand, was lovely. The length of the pool makes it idea for exercise, though I was never that keen... On a practical level, everything you could need in the house is provided, from pots and pans and cups and plates, through to towels and bed linen. The house is equipped with secure parking, state-of-the-art security, and high-end televisions and audio. All you need to do is purchase food, and there is excellent shopping at a large mall at Somerset West, just a fifteen minute drive away, and many good grocery and liquor stores even closer by. The drive to Gordon’s Bay takes only ten minutes or so, and we walked there in about 30 minutes on a couple of occasions. There’s a lovely beach, and several good local restaurants serving some excellent fish. I’d particularly recommend Zest as a great blend of value and quality. If you want something extra special, there are a huge number of wineries that can be reached by car in under an hour, and many within twenty minutes or so. Some of the restaurants at these wineries are truly world-class, and easily match the UK's best. This would be a fantastic location for a group of friends or family, or for a corporate meeting. We will return for sure.

Absolutely stunning
Just had a fabulous stay at 22 Protea Drive. Fabulous to wake up to stunning views of False Bay from your bed. Great pool for swimming laps and nice and warm. House is very well equipped and has everything you need or maybe didn’t even know you needed! Photos don’t really do it justice. Highly recommend.

Just stunning for sheer luxury and views to die for
So near to all the amenities and golf courses - yet quiet and set back from the hustle City. The owner is a very keen cyclist (the cost of th bikes is more than a small car…!). so the location is excellent for cyclists who will pop out for 50 Km ride before breakfast... Views are stunning over False Bay towards Cape Pensinsula and down to Hottentots-Holland Mountain and Kogelberg Nature Reserve... The home has been built, in 2017, to a very high standard with everything provided.

About the neighborhood
The house is situated in a upmarket residential area of Gordon's Bay called Mountainside, and is at the start of a scenic whale route drive along the coast Hermanus. Gordons Bay is a picturesque seaside village. Accommodations are all close to beach, shops and restaurants. Views are most likely and can be enjoyed from most areas. The village is clean and tidy and the people are warm and welcoming. In Gordon’s Bay we have high season and low season. High season sees temperatures of up to 35 degrees with high humidity making it nice to spend a lot of time on the beach. This is also the dry season in the Western Cape with minimal rainfall. Very close to the Cape Winelands and fantastic golf courses.
