The house is in a quiet side road close to the center of this lovely old market town. It has very spacious and well furnished accommodation over two floor and is primarily used as the owners second home. A very sunny back garden ideal for relaxing, Villedieu is famous for the copper trade and has one of the few existing Bell Foundries left in France. The town is well equipped with boulangeries, charcuteries restaurants and cafes - Tuesday is market day and not to be missed. A very pleasant, well-maintained house in a very agreeable small market town, celebrated for its foundries (‘-les-Poêles’ are the ‘frying pans’ but the town’s fame nowadays is more about its bell foundry). The street is quiet – a little music from the Music School across...More

About the neighborhood
Villedieu is well served with small museums celebrating the copper and pewter trade for which the town is justly famous. This trade goes back to the time of the Crusades and is celebrated with a four yearly festival which takes over the center of town in mid-June. To coincide with this there is a festival of flowers two years later. Several golf courses within easy reach and riding stables towards the coast. A family Zoo at Champrepus
How to get there
Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth or Poole to Cherbourg or Caen. V illedieu is an easy drive being approximately 70 miles away.. By train on the direct line from Paris to Granville. Descend at Villedieu.
