small cottage with limited storage facilities in the bedroom. Big enough for 2 but more would struggle. Came for the walking but the local footpaths are overgrown and in some cases blocked and would be difficult to find even even with and OS map.

About the neighborhood
Piggery cottage is 3 miles north of Wem and 6 miles south of Whitchurch in the beautiful unspoilt North Shropshire countryside. Although situated in a peaceful, unspoilt area, Piggery Cottage is close to local amenities. Wem has a small selection of local shops, a Co-op supermarket, post office, two chemists, two butchers, newsagents, deli, hardware shop, florist and old fashioned sweetshop. Whitchurch has a bigger selection of larger shops with both Tescos and Sainsburys, a Lidl and Iceland, as well a range of smaller shops. Nearby there are farm shops selling local produce and there is a good selection or country pubs serving real ale and good food.
How to get there
Although we suggest a car is essential it is possible to manage without one: There is a nearby railway station in Wem (3 miles). There are no taxis available at the station. Contact us before the start of your stay if you need contact numbers of local taxis. We do not advise walking the 3 miles to Piggery Cottage since it is on a rural B road (the B5476) without pavement or street lights. Shopping can be brought in for you by prior arrangement with the owners. The nearest pub is 1 mile away on the B5476 - a pleasant walk in summer. For those coming by car full directions will be emailed in advance of your stay or please contact us you would like more information before booking.
