- Rooms are small but the hotel more than makes up for that with outstanding staff, unexpected amenities and great location. The complimentary walking tours were outstanding and well worth taking. Guides were skilled, friendly and adapted to the group's needs. Concierges recommended outstanding restaurants off the "typical" tourist track.
@H5864SPpeggygReviewed October 2024 - The Corpo Santo hotel staff exceeded my expectations. The hotel itself is very unassuming from the outside; however, once inside, everything is a delight! The staff are so helpful and accommodating. My mother became sick during the visit and they allowed us to stay an extra night and brought hot tea to our room. The walking tours with Ana were top notch and better than ones you pay for. The front desk staff, concierge and porters were all amazing. The office staff (and their turtles and fish) were very sweet too. Hotel rooms were impeccable and we send a special thank you to the housekeeping staff. Last but not least is the incredible restaurant and staff. The breakfasts were excellent with so many delicious offerings. A fresh fruit plate and charcuterie platter start off the meal, followed by a selection of pastries and breads. After all that, you can order items off the menu such as omelettes, assorted breakfast meats, eggs, etc. In the evenings, the dinner is superb. The portuguese fish stew was my favorite and I loved it so much, I ordered it two nights in a row! The restaurants managers and waitstaff were very attentive and made everything so special. I love that they recognize their staff individually on their Instagram page. You can tell that they truly value their employees and it shows in the customer service provided by everyone who works there. This truly was one of my favorite hotels ever! You will not be disappointed!

Tour began with the historic remains of the old city beneath the hotel. Well preserved and very interesting parts of the old city wall, buildings, and artifacts. Got good sense of the area layout and where we wanted to visit later. Highly recommend.

The building itself is somewhat corporate so lacks character but the rooms are well equipped and a good size. However the site is historic as can be seen from the medieval city wall foundations and artefacts displayed in the basement lounge. A great place to stay and pleasant walking (much of it uphill!) to sites, shops and restaurants.
