Dong Ha is a quiet and friendly city 70km from Hue. There are several things you can do in Dong Ha city:
1. Visit Mines Action Visitor Center: This is an interesting Museum about Vietnam War and the aftermath. It's free with English speaking guide. Open 0800 - 1700 from Monday to Friday. Usually, if you wish to do DMZ tour, this is the first place you should start, where you can have a general picture about the Vietnam war and what happened in Quang Tri before and after the war. The Center has a small comfortable theatre where you can enjoy several documentary films. Mr. Phu, the manager, is very helpful. The address is: Li Thuong Kiet street.
2. Quang Tri Museum: This is a general museum about Quang Tri, reflecting its culture, people, the war and lifestyle. It opens on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The only drawback is the language, only in Vietnamese. The address is 8 Nguyen Hue street.
3. Blind Massage: As the most affected area in the War, Quang Tri is known for its high rate of disability. Over 80% of the land is infected by landmine. There are a lot of blind people who works as masseuses. You can enjoy refreshing massage and help the blind. Address: 172 Chu Manh Trinh.
4. Tourist Information: You can get most of the information and a free map at Tam's Cafe at 81 Tran Hung Dao Street. It has an information desk in the Cafe.
