The oldest bridge that crosses the Miño River is the Roman Bridge. This bridge was completed during the time of the Emperor Augustus, but now has only a few dressed stones at the base that remain from the original Roman structure. In the 13th century the bridge was rebuilt with its present shape that has a pointed arch and long ramps. The last renovation of the bridge occurred in the 17th century.
