While Providence isn't known as a hot spot for family vacations, like Orlando or Los Angeles, it does have its charms. If you're visiting the area and have access to a car, you can take a short drive to catch a baseball game at the Pawtucket Red Sox. It's only about a ten-fifteen minute drive, and tickets are about $5 dollars for general admission. Another fun thing for the family would be seeing a Providence Bruins hockey game. Tickets for the game are relatively inexpensive and definitely can help save some money for a budget vacation. Right next to the Dunkin Donuts Center, the home of the Bruins, is the Providence Place Mall. Shoppers come from all over the New England region to see this relatively new mall. Filled with many upscale shops, the mall can seem a bit intimidating, but there is also something for the family. Dave and Busters, a family-oriented restaurant and bar, offers a great time for everyone attending. Locals compare it to a huge Chucky Cheese, but it is much more than that. With billiards tables, a fully-stocked bar, and a game room with anything you could ever want, it is sure to entertain the whole family. However, the restaurant can also turn into a rowdy bar later in the night, so if you're going with children make sure you prepare for that.
