Springfield is a place for golf lovers! Late spring through early fall sees a plethora of golf-fanatics enjoying the open green courses in Illinois' capital. In fact, there are eight major golf courses in this city!

Brookhills Golf Course Inc is a public 9-hole executive course with a 31 par. For a longer course, try Lincoln Hills Golf Course. With 18 holes and built in 1957, the bluegrasses surrounding this area will make for an enjoyable day.

Springfield also features a great number of parks and hiking and walking paths from which to prosper the great outdoors. The Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau lists the city parks and addresses as well as providing a listing of the many festivities that are a part of Club Activities at the Lake.  One of the top to visit however, is the Washington Park Botanical Garden. Everyone will feel relaxed and at peace while walking through the fragrant rose gardens and seeing the colorful, year-round tropical foliage.

A favorite path for bikers and walkers is the Interurban Trail which provides 7 miles of paved walkway beginning at Wabash Avenue. Another is the Lost Bridge Trail, a little further out of town it provides a more scenic 5 miles of trailway for bikers, walkers, and roller bladers alike.

Biking fanatics may want to check in with the Land of Lincoln Bike Club for upcoming events.
