If you're in the Fench Quarter, of course you have to get coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde! Jazz brunch is also a local tradition that takes place especially on Sundays, but the Court of Two Sister's has brunch every day of the week.
Uptown there is the Bluebird Cafe on Prytania. Winnie's Artsy Cafe on Magazine also has a great sandwiches, but call ahead first bc they have been closed recently for renovations. There are also some Sunday brunch places uptown: Cafe Rani, Commanders Palace and Dante's Kitchen.
If you're interested in dining in an old, renovated apothocary (complete with a woman's entrance and gentleman's entrance), then you must try Croissant D'Or (translates to croissants of gold), located at 617 Ursulines. Open 7am to 4:30pm, they are closed Tuesday. The beautiful blue and white surroundings are only paled in comparison to the myriad of french breakfast pastries, beautiful brioches and mouth watering quiches. With a steaming cup of cafe au'lait and a decadent almond croissant, settle in with your morning paper at a window seat. Don't forget to appreciate the beautiful tile work.
