You must check out the TWO monthly art markets in New Orleans.  There is the BYWATER ART MARKET which is held the THIRD Saturday of every month rain or shine.  The Bywater Art Market is from 9-4 pm.  It is located in the historic Bywater neighborhood outside of the French Quarter.  You may get a cab ride there.  The market is located in Markey Park at the corner of Royal and Piety Streets.  Please see for more information

The other monthly art market is THE ARTS MARKET OF NEW ORLEANS (formerly known as Mid City Art Market).  It is held the LAST Saturday of every month.  Rain or Shine. The market lasts from 10-4pm.  It is located Uptown in Palmer Park at the corner of Carrollton and Claiborne.  Again, you may catch a cab there or when the streetcar begins to roll down the Uptown may catch the streetcar there as well.  Please go to  for more information.

At both of these markets you will find hand blown glass, pottery, handcrafted jewelry, oil and water colors, photography and whatever else your imagination can conjure up!!  Please come and check out the local art scene.

These art markets are what the French Market USED TO BE in the 1980's...when fine art was still sold at the French Market.  Now, the French Market is just machine made product you can buy just about anywhere.
