Even though it isn’t an international airport, many major airlines, including American, Delta, Northwest and United, fly to the Jackson Hole airport (the airport code is JAC). It serves the entire county of Jackson Hole in addition to Jackson the city, but it is also the most trafficked airport in the entire state of Wyoming. The airport is actually in the town of Moose, but Jackson is only a short drive away. Take Highway 89 south for about 10 miles and exit on Cache Street. This map of Jackson will give you a better idea of how the major highways connect to the town.
The Jackson Hole airport is the most convenient way to get to Jackson, but it does have some disadvantages. Due to its small size and the likelihood of bad weather conditions, delays are frequent. Also, direct flights into Jackson Hole tend to fill up quickly, because there are so few of them. Jackson Hole Central Reservations offers vacation package with discounted airfare, it is often a great resource for air-inclusive packages. If you don’t get a reservation or are traveling during winter, you might want to take a plane into Salt Lake City, Utah or Denver, Colorado instead (both are international airports). The drive from Salt Lake City to Jackson takes five hours, and the one from Denver takes ten hours. Driving directions from both cities can be found here.
