You won’t find a busy hodgepodge of activities and events on tap in Port Townsend. Instead, you’ll find some festivals with small-town attitude and spirit.

In January, you can drink and eat to your heart’s content at the annual Wine & Cheese Tasting Festival, a fundraiser for the Elks Scholarship Association Trust Fund.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, you can head for Port Townsend’s Lantern Festival. This annual event includes a lantern walk, a labyrinth created with candles, and music courtesy of the Fremont Philharmonic Orchestra.

During one long weekend in March, Port Townsend celebrates its history and heritage with a Victorian Festival. During this festival, you can take home tours, enjoy high tea, watch living history re-enactments, take a Victorian Cemetery Tour, or enjoy a Victorian fashion show.

Any visitor to Port Townsend in September needs to head for the Wooden Boat Festival, an event that truly highlights Port Townsend’s maritime heritage. The festival includes races, fun events, demonstrations and exhibits. The whole family will enjoy these events, which also include special activities for children, family boatbuilding and music. If you do plan to take in all the fun of the Wooden Boat Festival, be sure to book your hotel or bed and breakfast well in advance to avoid disappointment.
