Traveler Description: Lake Whatcom Park is on the eastern shore of Lake Whatcom, which is at the eastern edge of Bellingham. This is the only large section of Lake Whatcom without a road or development.
Location: Access from one location only: the south end of Northshore Drive, itself a scenic drive.
Attraction Type: Rural park by a large lake. Main attraction is one easy hiking trail called "Hertz Trail". A second is the Powerline Trail road that leads steeply uphill towards Stewart Mountain.
Activities: Easy scenic walk along the lake. 3.1 miles one way. Birdwatching, swimming, cycling, dog walking (dogs must be leashed). Views include a small waterfall.
