Dunbar Cave State Natural area is located in Clarksville at the corner of Dunbar Cave Road and Old Dunbar Cave Road.  The natural area has picknicking, hiking trails, a fishing lake, and of course the cave.  The cave is about 8 miles long and tours of some parts of the cave are given by park staff.  The frequency of tours is seasonal, but there are tours year-around.  You need to call ahead for the schedule and to make a reservation.  The phone number is 931 648 5526.

In the summer of 2006 it was announced that several very old (possibly made around 600AD) and historically significant petroglyphs were discovered in the cave.  If you take the tour, you will be able to see some of the petroglyphs and hear about current research.

There is also a small visitor's center with exhibits.  The park also has ongoing educational events.

Here is a link to the Friends of Dunbar Cave web site.  This site has directions, current events, a link to caving groups and more.
