Visitors are welcome to try the IOn Village Walk community trail system while visiting Mt. Pleasant, SC. This Nine mile system runs through the neotraditional IOn Community, about two miles North of Charleston. The 5 mile Village Walk and 3.8 mile Westlake I'On run along the marshfront, through a wildlife refuge called the rookery and through community parks and common spaces. The trails are suitable for walking or running. Over half the distance is on soft surface mulch and gravel trails. The trails are open at no charge during daylight hours. Walks of 2 to 5 miles along the trails can be planned. The www.ioncommunity.com website has downloadable PDF guides and maps available for both trails and GPS route data for the Westwalk IOn.
The Charleston International Film Festival (www.CharlestonIFF.com) After a very fun successful first year, this non-profit organization is returning with even more sneak previews and screenings of features, documentaries, shorts and animations at the Terrace Theater (www.TerraceTheater.com) April 23-26, 2009. This event includes panels and workshops, Q&A with the filmmakers, brunches, and nightly after parties hosted by Tommy Bahama Ultra Premium Rum at the classy, hip venues around town. At the end of the four days, the very best in film making and screenwriting will be recognized at an Awards Gala at the Francis Marion Hotel in honor of the Hearts of Hope foundation. Great time to visit Charleston!
