York has a growing Arts and Market District. The district's core, Central Market York is a farmer's market that has been in operation for over 125 years. Produce, flowers, coffee, sushi, burritos, jerk chicken, greens, live music and more has York City's locals and out of town visitors really happy on its market days (Tuesdays, Thursday, Saturdays).
Philadelphia Street and Beaver Streets have unique shops, galleries, taverns and restaurants as well. Step into almost any of the buildings to meet its talented and dedicated proprietors.
The Market district continues on North George Street with the Strand Capital Performing Arts Center and an interesting variety of eateries as well.
If you have any sense of adventure and crave architectural SPLENDOR, just keep walking and you will be amazed at just how BEAUTIFUL AND UNSPOILED much of this THIS HISTORICAL 1743 AMERICAN CITY is! OK, Ok, this city has had some tough economic times in the past, but it sure it refreshing to experience it now and feel like you are part of something of a renaissance!
