Ladd's Addition

Platted in 1909 by William Ladd and modeled after the unique grid pattern of streets in Washington DC, Ladd's Addition is bordered by SE 20th Ave to the east, SE 12th Ave to the west, SE Hawthorne Blvd to the north, and SE Division St to the south.  Although consisting mostly of "old pdx" homes built in the 1920s, Ladd's is also home to numerous churches, apartment buildings, restaurants, and boutiques.  Ladd's Addition also contains a series of green spaces known as Circles and Squares Parks, which contain multiple species of roses maintained throughout the year. For the most part, streets in Ladd's are lined with mature elm trees planted in 1909 and 1910.

Shops in Ladd's Addition include:

  • Palio Dessert House
  • Castagna Cafe
  • Videorama
  • Hankin's Hardware
  • Riyadh's
  • Deco to Disco
  • Thai Spoon

As of 2005, the median home price for a 3 bedroom house was $414,000.  The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment was $640 per month.

Ladd's Addition is serviced by Tri-Met, Portland's public transportation system, with bus #14 running up Hawthorne, bus #4 running up Division, and bus #10 running diagonally through Ladd's.
