OK, this may not be everyone's cup of tea, but you may find the Leatherman Factory tour very interesting.  For those unaware, Leatherman is an all-purpose tool, kind of like the Swiss Army Knife - but much more.  It started 25 years ago as a combo knife and pliers and has been improved, tweaked and perfected since.  The tools are very sturdy (one was found in the World Trade Center wreckage, fairly intact) , made of stainless steel and guaranteed for 25 years.  They are made only in Portland; the company has resisted moving production out of the US.

There are tours once a week (two in summer) and they are limited to 10 people.  The tour is conducted by a senior Leatherman marketing manager who can answer any question about the manufacturing process.  You are issued safety glasses and a headset that allows you to hear the guide as you walk through the manufacturing site.  You will see the manufacturing process from the raw steel coming in the door to stamping tool pieces, to filing, sharpening and polishing to shipping.  Any industrial engineer would love this tour.  No cameras are allowed and each tour participant receives a discount at the factory store located in the same building.

The factory is located in a shopping area close to the Ikea Store and fairly close to the airport.
