Medford is located in southern Oregon between Portland and San Francisco. Medford is about 270 miles from Portland, with a driving time of about 4.5 hours. San Francisco, about 360 miles south of Medford, is about a 6 hour drive. The only freeway route to and from Medford is Interstate 5, which goes north and south.
Flying into Medford is easy through the Rogue Valley International Airport. Medford actually had the first Municipal airport in the state of Oregon, which opened in 1926!
Upon arrival at the airport, many hotels offer shuttle service so be sure to check if yours is one of them. The following rental car companies have a rental office at the airport: Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National/Alamo. A car is necessary if you plan to visit the areas surrounding Medford, although public bus transportation in Medford and nearby cities is available through http://www.rvtd.org/ .
