There is a series of wooden walkways and paths on the Sound side of the island, beginning at the end of Winston-Salem St at East Third Ave. and continuing to Charlotte St/E. Sixth Ave. (They're not marked, but they're visible from the road.) You can see miles of the marsh, with all its wildlife, as well as the mainland from the paths. Altogether, it's about 3/4 of a mile from one end to the other, with occasional separate spurs that go out to the street or deeper into the marsh. Highly recommended for letting kids run and walking dogs.
