Several events and festivals occur throughout the year in Lincoln. Perhaps one of the biggest highlights is the Nebraska State Fair, which occurs during the late summer.

Haymarket Farmers' Market  -- held Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon, May through October. Items for sale include fresh produce, flowers, and homemade food.

Celebrate Lincoln -- this festival celebrates different cultures, featuring musical and dance performances, games, and a number of different cuisines to try.

Jazz in June -- this event features jazz concerts on Tuesday evenings during the month of June at the Sculpture Garden downtown.

Ribsfest -- ribs, ribs, and more ribs. Come prepared to get slathered in BBQ sauce.

Nebraska State Fair -- the quintessential Midwestern event, the state fair includes games, exhibitions, horse racing, and musical performances, among other activities.

Star City Holiday Festival & Parade -- During the largest parade in the five state area, the streets of downtown Lincoln are transformed as the Star City Holiday Parade rolls through. Anticipate floats, giant balloons, bands and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Usually held the first Saturday in December.
