Tunica has a semi-tropical climate which goes through four seasons of which the emphasis of extreme weather falls to summer with heat. Winters are very mild in Tunica with an average temperature in the 50s. Fall and summer are very comfortable seasons with temperatures in the ideal 70s. As was mentioned, summer is very hot with temperatures averaging in the 80s but often climbing above and beyond into the 90s and up with a very humid atmosphere that can be a little tiring.

Those affected by the humidity so much so that an ice-cold lemonade will not revive them, will really enjoy Tunica the most in the springtime. In fact the spring is the tourist high season as it has the best climate of the year. Flowers come very early and the humidity has not yet hit in full force; April and May are perfect times to visit Tunica. Light clothing, sunscreen, sunglasses and hats are highly recommended no matter what time of year you visit.

Some great times to visit the city include arriving for the Tunica Rivergate Barbecue Festival which is a branch of the world-famous barbecue in Memphis. This festival takes place in May and will provide you with some of the tastiest treats from the South that you could ask for! Also the Gospel Music Festival is a great time to visit to get some local culture. The music performances are enhanced by more Southern cooking and games; it take place the first weekend of October.
