Minneapolis and the surrounding areas have many different things to offer families with children. One fabulous place to visit is the Mall of America in Bloomington, just outside of Minneapolis, with over 500 stores, and the indoor amusement park, Nickelodeon Universe, and SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium. They also have many resturants to choose from, whether you're in the mood for fast food or sit-down style.  Just a short light rail train ride from downtown Minneapolis and near the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, it's easy to stop at the largest mall in the country.

Another fun family experience is ValleyFair located in Shakopee, a suburb outside Minneapolis (about 30 minutes). This wonderful park offers all the amusement rides plus a water park. Other family-friendly water parks include the Water Park of America, near the Mall of America in Bloomington, and one in downtown Minneapolis at the Renaissance Depot hotel. The Depot also has an ice skating rink that is open in the winter. Skates are available for rental.

Families also can have fun exploring the Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts & Children's Theatre Company, Mill City Museum (be sure to do the Flour Tower and "Minneapolis in 19 minutes flat" film!), the Minnesota Children's Museum and Minnesota History Center in Saint Paul and the Minneapolis Central Library. Sports fans will want to check out MinnesotaTwins baseball games at Target Field, Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx basketball at Target Center and Minnesota Vikings at TCF Bank Stadium through 2015-2016 season, and then at the new stadium in the 2016 season.

For adventurous types, try the Segway tours of the Riverfront District, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and more by Magical History Tours.
