Events and festivals in Chatham and the surrounding area are clustered in the late spring, summer, and early fall. Winter is not a time anyone wants to go looking for craft fair bargains in Chatham! The plethora of events and activities in the three remaining seasons make up for it, though. Band concerts, lighthouse tours, theater productions, the 19th annual Taste of Chatham (hope you like seafood), ecumenical beach services (sing with the surf for your music), a yearly Festival of the Arts; there's something happening that's bound to fit your bill. The exception to this though is Christmas and New Years when the town takes the holidays in full stride.
Chatham Band Concerts: At the Kate Gould Park along Main Street next to the Wayside Inn is the home for the Chatham Band Concerts which happen every Friday night at 8:00PM from June 30-September 1. Thousands of people attend these concerts and they truly show what Chatham is all about.
Chatham Athletics Baseball: Throughout the summer there are a number of home games for the Chatham Athletics which are part of the famous Cape Cod Baseball League. The league is an NCAA sanctioned summer league that dates back to 1885. Home games are played at Veteran's Field just off Main Street (past the rotary) and start at 7:00PM.
First Night Chatham: Despite it being winter Chatham is alive for New Years and has its own first night celebration. You can buy a button at a number of stores and this gives you access to tons of events that are held throughout New Years Eve day. One thing not to miss is the noise parade which begins at 6:30PM at Main & Cross Streets. There are shows and concerts throughout town. All of the festivities are topped off by a fireworks show over Oyster Pond at midnight.
The Artisans' Guild of Cape Cod and the Society of Cape Cod Craftsmen both have long traditions (44 years and 54 years, respectively) of high-quality masterpieces and craftmanship to offer to buyers. They have numerous fairs throughout the summer months.
