Visitors to the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville area have a few options for how to entertain themselves with sports and activities. There are many outdoor activities available just outside of the city of Camden , including water sports, boating, golfing, hiking, biking, camping, fishing and more.
Camden ’s proximity to the Atlantic Ocean provides many opportunities for boating and swimming (although the water can get very cold). There are numerous companies in the area that rent boats, and take customers out on charter fishing and sightseeing tours.
The most popular Water Sports offered in the area are rafting and kayaking. Kayaking can be done in lakes, rivers or the ocean, while rafting is done down the area’s rivers.
With numerous Golf Courses in the Camden area , many visitors choose to bring along their clubs and spend a day on the links. The natural backdrop of many of the courses is worth the trip alone.
Less than an hour scenic drive south along the rugged midcoast is the Boothbay Harbor Peninsula with the charming quaint seacoast village of Boothbay Harbor. With all the shops, art galleries, restaurants, sailing & whale watching, and so many other attractions & activities, it's worth the trip to experience this special place in a cozy harbor with magnificent ocean views. Boothbay Harbor is home to one of Maine's top 10 golf courses, the Boothbay Country Club.
The Camden Hills State Park provides people with miles of hiking and biking trails that explore the natural beauty of the area. The park has campgrounds available for over night stays, but a permit is required. The company Costal Mountain Hiking offers guided day and half-day walking tours in the area.
