As with most large American cities, Des Moines has a lot of shopping options. The city's downtown is full of shops and boutiques of all kinds, while the city's outskirts are home to a variety of larger chain and department stores. Des Moines also has several shopping malls, in which a shopper could find just about anything that they needed.
Downtown Des Moines is home to the East Village, an urban, walkable neighborhood containing over 85 local shops, bars and restaurants. A "shop local" paradise, the East Village is located just west of the Iowa State Capitol and minutes from downtown hotels, Iowa Events Center and the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
Southridge Mall is home to several large chains, such as Sears, Younkers, Target and Marshalls. Located at SE 14th and Army Post Road, the mall's website lists its hours of operation, directions and directory.

West Des Moines is home to two malls. Valley West Mall features many national retailers, including Banana Republic, Younkers, JC Penney and Von Maur. The mall is located north of I-235 on Valley West Drive.
West Des Moines' Jordan Creek Town Center is the largest mall in Iowa, featuring Dillards, Younkers and Scheel's All-Sports. Jordan Creek is home to many national chains, including Pottery Barn, J.Crew, Brooks Brothers, Coach and many more. Another mall in Des Moines, a bit off the beaten path, is the the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall, one of a growing chain of antiques malls in the United States with over 450 dealers doing business there.
