Lovers of dance and music should enjoy the mixture of the works of one of the world’s greatest playwrights ever with ballet. From Shakespeare with Love will be performed by the Indiana Ballet Company at the Athenaeum Auditorium in Indianapolis this month.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the performance will take place February 12 (7:30 p.m.) and Feb. 13 (2:00 p.m. & 07:30 p.m.).
The dancers plan to explore love in all its many aspects in an original creation of the Indiana Ballet Company's Artistic Director, Alyona Yakovleva. The dancing will be combined with period music and Shakespeare readings. Tim Hardy, a British visitor from Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and very distinguished actor, director, singer etc., and making a bit of a buzz in Indy this past year, has asked to read the Shakespeare sonnets for this production. He is directing the Shakespeare festival at Notre Dame in January.
Cost for the performance ranges from $15 – 27. Those who want to give their loved one a little something extra can buy a single red rose with Shakespearean romantic message for $5.
If you want to grab an early bite to eat, you can go downstairs in the Athenaeum building to the Rathskeller for some authentic German food and wine. They also have 50 varieties of imported beer.
