Gone are the days when the ferry was the only way to access Siesta Key (visitors can still board a ferry to enjoy a trip around the bay to see the beauty of the Sarasota area, its keys and islands).

Now you can drive or take the bus. Sarasota County Area Transit Buses (SCAT) runs its only one scheduled service from downtown Sarasota to Siesta Key from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They run every hour and have stops in downtown, St. Armands, Longboat and Lido Keys.

A new scheduled service for Venice is planned to begin in October .

Passengers 65 years of age or older and/or handicapped pay reduced fares. Visitors can purchase bus passports and 20 ride bus cards at any SCAT Operations Street supervisor, or at the Goodwill Stores. Students under 18 years old, only pay a dime per ride.
