Pinellas Park is known as a bedroom community for the Tampa Bay area. It is the home of the famous NASCAR driver Mike Cope. The city celebrates with a series of community events held annually every year in a city-owned park with bandshell located behind City hall. The most popular of these events is "Country in the Park," a festival held every year generally in late March. The festival's popularity stems from its wide array of events; amusement park rides, craft shows, NASCAR displays, and a day-long concert, and probably the fact that parking, entry to the festival, and attendance of the concert are all free. This celebration comes right after a week long crack down by the code enforcement in another event called Pride in the Park. This celebration occurs during the week leading up to Country in the Park. This is a time when the rules about how much households can have hauled away by the garbage is relaxed.
