For many who don't know where Palm Bay is
located, it is approximately 23 miles South of Cocoa Beach on the East Coast of Florida. Orlando is 65 miles North West of Palm Bay. It is a small city with its population of 100,000 as of this year, 2006. Its growth has exploded in the last couple of years but it still maintains its small town charisma.
Our local beach is called Indiatlantic Beach, otherwise known to locals as Melbourne Beach located on A1A. A1A is home to many large upscale hotels as well as small motels that are also oceanside. The 192 Causeway (bridge) runs over the Indian River and connects Melbourne to the island where the beach is located.
The Palm Bay/Melbourne area is home to the Brevard Zoo, Turkey Creek Sanctuary, various Marinas, recreational parks, night clubs and all kinds of restaurants. There is also the Indian River Fishing Pier which is nice for fishing or just relaxing on one of the benches.
Below is the Turkey Creek Sanctuary and its boardwalk that also turns into a path along the ground.
