If you have enough time to spend, come to Miami by car or rent a car and drive slowly towards Key West. On the way, there are many beaches and 42 bridges, which are worth of seeing and enjoying. The views are amazingly beautiful!

One beach where you should really stop is Bahia Honda State beach and park. It´s an area with some 3 beaches. The beauty of these beaches is superior to others in Miami. You really feel like you´re in the Caribbean when walking, swimming and snorkeling there.

If you like the nature, there are also many camping areas on the way. Many provide cabins for rent and have space for tents and RV´s. Check for example these:

Leo´s Campground – The cheapest one. No pool but otherwise good.

Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge – Pool and good facilities.

Boyd´s Key West Campground – Pool and good facilities.

Sugarloaf Key, Key West KOA – Part of KOA chain. Pool, hot tub and good facilities.

Since Key West is surrounded by water, it´s obvious that water sports are popular hobbies there. As a tourist you can easily find lots of activities. Try out scuba diving, snorkeling, rent a jet ski or a kayak or go parasailing etc..

The most popular places to visit in Key West are the Ernest Hemingway home, Mallory Square, Key West Aquarium, Duval Street, Shipwreck Museum, Sloppy Joe´s Bar and Lighthouse museum. You can easily spend a day wandering around. You can also take a trolley tour around the city; it takes you to all main attractions. Remember to try out Key Limon Pie while you´re in Key West, it´s a must.

If you only have little time to spend in Key West, or you´re staying in Miami, there are many companies that organize day or overnight tours to Key West.

You can also rent a scooter or a bike in Key West which is a nice way to see the city!
