The  Key West Department of Transportation operates several bus and shuttle lines.  There are four color-coded routes that circulate around the ctiy, and two additional routes that travel between Key West & Marathon.  Maps,bus stops, realtime information, and  timetables are available online at  and

Note: it runs only every 60-90 minutes so you have to know the schedule, but if you need to get across the island or even to the airport ($2 versus $20) for local routes and $4.00 for service between Key West and Marathon -  this is a great option used by residents and visitors alike.

Fares can be purchased as you board the bus, at a variety of rates:

$2.00 for a one-way fare            $4.00 for a one-way fare.
$8.00 for a seven-day pass.     $25.00 for a seven-day pass
$25.00 for a 31 day pass          $75.00 for a 31 day

Miliitary, Senior, Student, and disabled rates (all buses are handicap accessible.)

Children under five ride free.  Exact change is required.

If you have a bicycle, it can be secured to the bike rack on the front of the bus (Applies only to city routes). Folding or portable bikes are allowed on the Lower Keys Shuttle.

The Lower Keys Shuttle connects in Marathon with Miami-Dade Route 301 from Florida City to provide service throughout all of the Keys.

There is a Park N Ride Garage located at 301 Grinnell Street.  Free bus service on the City routes is offered with your paid parking receipt.

In addition to the bus system, taxi service is readily available.
