From the airport taxi, limousine, and shuttle service is available. Shuttle buses may be the most affordable route for singles or even two travelers, but larger groups of three to give might consider a taxicab, as all passengers ride for the price of one.
Most of the major rental car services are available at the airport including Avis, Enterprise, E-Z Rent-A-Car, Hertz, Payless, Budget, Royal, Alamo, Advantage and National Car. All are located in the rental car center which is directly connected to Terminal 1 via a skybridge or a short shuttle ride from terminal 2, 3, or 4 (look for the "rental car center" shuttle). The cars themselves are directly in the garage attached to the center. Priority One Auto Rental delivers luxury cars directly to clients at the airport. There are further off - airport options to rent a car from like Sunshine, Sixt Rent a Car, Goldcoast, Economy and ACE. Their Shuttlebusses leave in front of the car rental center at Bus Stop 7. While off-airport rentals are generally cheaper, you may have to call to get their shuttle. Their phone numbers are listed on a sign at the Bus Stop. Also make sure you bring proof of valid auto insurance, otherwise you may be required to pay an "exclusion coverage" fee.
If you’re renting a car and driving around the Fort Lauderdale area be sure to watch for areas where there are meters or parking permits are required. Most street and city lot parking is metered 24/7, even on Sundays, and hours where one can park without being ticketed may be restricted. Enforcement is very agressive so ensure you pay or risk a hefty ticket. There are also numerous parking lots in the downtown Fort Lauderdale area, as well as private parking lots near the various public beaches.
