The fact is there is not your typical taxi service in Steamboat Springs. Visitors should therefore, talk to their condo management or their hotel to see whether it does or does not offer a shuttle service. However, getting from the airport to your lodging (approximately 23 miles) can easily be accomplished by three different Ground Transportation Companies. One, Storm Mountain Express, 970-879-1963, two, Goalpine and three, Powderhound Transportation. 970-879-2800. Be sure to call ahead, and also be sure to book round trips, as this assures you'll have a return ride to the airport on the day of departure. You can also get a rental car at the airport. Hertz, Budget, and Avis have airport terminal check in and rental. Enterprise will book you online, but then you have to take a shuttle, Storm Mountain or GoAlpine to their offices, It is important to mention here, again, that because of the free bus, Steamboat Springs Transit, and some hotels, and some property managements, for example, Mountain Resorts, Storm Meadows, Porches, and Pioneer Ridge providing shuttles, a rental car is not always the best option. Most travelers come back to the rental car counters with very, very little mileage on the car.
