August 14-17 - The town of Palisade, just outside of Grand Junction, is the Peach Capital of Colorado.
The town of Palisade also is home to an annual peach festival, one of Western Colorado ’s premier events. For four days, festival-goers visit more than 100 food and craft vendors, listen to live music, play in the children’s area and participate in different culinary activities. There’s even the passing of the torch between the old and new “Town Grouch.”
Most of the festival takes place in Riverbend Park , but you can also take guided tours of Palisade Peach Company and other local orchards, go on self-guided biking and rafting trips, and shop at the Sunday farmers’ market.
Fruits aren’t all Palisade has to offer. The town is also home to businesses that make microbrews, distilled spirits, coffees, pastas, sauces, cookies and cakes.
Each fall, the Colorado Mountain Wine Fest is held in Palisade the third weekend in September. Call 800-704-3667 or visit www.coloradowinefest.com for more information.
