Grand Junction – Shopping

Big-name stores like Best Buy, Old Navy and Borders can be found in Grand Junction, Colorado, but the city is also home to numerous boutiques and other small locally owned stores. In downtown alone, more than 100 independent businesses sell clothing, jewelry, shoes, books, music and more. Head to the North Avenue shopping district to find more locally owned stores, or check out the newest national chains at The Grand Mesa Center, Grand Junction ’s shopping haven.

The streets of downtown Grand Junction are lined with Victorian-era buildings that house art galleries, clothing boutiques and antique shops. The city’s downtown streets also form one of the nation's largest sidewalk sculpture galleries, with 100 pieces that make the stroll from store to store so much more enjoyable.

On Thursday evenings throughout the summer, a Farmers’ Market Festival offers fresh locally grown produce, including peaches, cherries, apples and pumpkins, as well as locally made jams, jellies, sauces, syrups, salsas and dried fruit. Other offerings include aprons, handicrafts, jewelry and handmade soaps, plus local authors and publishers display and sell their recently released books. Plein-air artists set up easels, capturing the lively street scene and completed works are for sale. The market runs from mid-June to mid-September.
