Stanford Theatre is a landmark that is not to be missed if you like classic movies in a beautiful venue. It's hard to miss it as you work your way down University Avenue in downtown Palo Alto.
It first opened in 1925 and has recently gone through a marvelous renovation. The space next to the theatre has been added to house vintage posters and memrobilia.
If you are a fan of classic movies like Casablanca, Gigi, Roman Holiday, etc. this is an experience to be had.
Adults pay $7.00 for tickets, the young at heart (65 and over) pay only $5.00. With your paid admission you can watch 1 or both movies that are offered that evening. The popcorn and soda stand has fresh popcorn and soda fountain drinks. A soda sets you back only $2.00 (for a large) and a small popcorn is less than $2.00. The prices are much lower than what you would pay at a regular movie house, because this theatre is owned by a non-profit organization dedicated to preservation of Classic Movies.
