BEVERLY HILLS IS FAMILY FRIENDLY--if you know where to go!  The following restaurants have kids'  menus, crayons, and high chairs.  Kids' drinks come in plastic cups with straws.  On Beverly Drive, between Olympic and Wilshire are ISLANDS (burgers and salads--great service); CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN (salads, sandwiches, and pizza, of course); and ROSTI  (chicken, pasta, salads).  The kids'  meals are under $5.

Also in the same area are CHIPOTLE , MULBERRY STREET PIZZA, and CHIN CHIN (Chinese; no kids' menu)--along with COLD STONE (ice cream) and, of course, PINKBERRY.

For coffee / dessert in the same area, try PEET'S, COFFEE BEAN AND TEA LEAF, CHAMPAGNE, STARBUCKS and ALOHA (which also has ice cream).  Another great spot is URTH, which has coffee, hot chocolate, desserts, soups, salads, and an outdoor patio.  URTH stays open the latest.

On Beverly Drive, but north of Wilshire and south of Santa Monica Blvd, are fast food places that are more comfortable than their counterparts in other parts of the metropolis and have great food--SHARKY'S (fresh Mexican food) and KOO-KOO-ROO (chicken and salads).

"Little" Santa Monica Boulevard has a sandwich shop, SANDBAGS, as well as BAJA FRESH (Mexican) and other similar inexpensive eateries, including PANINI--plusa gelato shop and two cupcake spots--SPRINKLES and CRUMBS.
