- A mysterious wetted plateau surrounded by the "Dragon's Mountains" which was the old name of the Carpathians (see the Order of the Dragon founded by the great Sigismundus in 1410)
- A land surrounded by the Carpathians Mountains like the most magnificent natural wall against the eternal invaders...The famous Transsylvanian passes (gorges) - Cozia, Bran , Oituz, Bistrita - were supplied in Medieval times with fortress-castles to oversee and watch every potential attack. The Medieval charges and taxes for Transsyllvania were so high and the passing so expensive that sometimes broke out revolts or scuffles.
