Never travel to Letterfrack and Connemera for the weather!! It rains quite a lot there but when the sun shines or when its dry there is no better place upon this earth.  That said, it does not seem to obey the weather reports of the rest of the country or even the county  of Galway (maybe those high mountains have something to do with its micro-climate) . . it can rain here when sun is blazing elsewhere but  the alternative is also true ... one can sit on the beach (in your fleece) and text those who complain about the weather elsewhere.. that said when it rains it  seems endless, mountains mist and road all blend together and it seems like  it will never stop .. so nothing for it but to head indoors, sit beside a fire, read a book and sip a pint to pass the time until the mist lifts and you can see the sea again.

The area has stayed true to its roots; no Mcdonald's here, just rugged mountains, peat bogs, scenic landscape and untouched beaches. Bring your own sunlounger cause they aren't supplied.

Fishing, walking, hiking, swiming, cycling are the main activities here.  This is an area for relaxation, switching off from the rest of the world.

For more information, check out , great website with loads of info about what's on and when, or  Make sure and get a copy of the Connemara View newspaper or listen in to Connemara Comunity Radio, a triple award winning station, for local issues, information and great music.

And be sure to take a trip on Irelands only glass bottomed boat, well worth it.

In a nut shell Connemara is unique and you will find nowhere else like it in the world.  Enjoy.
