Winslow, AZ is on the famous Route 66 and there are several reminants that are quaint to see(tried to load picture, but it fails somehow).

The drive from Winslow to the Grand Canyon National Park is 59 miles and will take a full hour to arrive. If at all possible, arrange your schedule so as to reach the Rim BEFORE sunrise.  You can then pick a spot to take breath taking photos of the changing light of sunrise.  Your effort will be rewarded.

Yaki Point is a recommended vantage point.  From Winslow, North on SR 64, past Valle Airport where it becoms US-180.  Near the park entrance, look for SR-64 again and stay to the right.  Look for E. Rim Drive on the right, follow for 1.1 miles and turn left on Yaki Point Road.

When leaving Yaki Pt, return on SR-64 W and turn right on S Entrance Rd for a loop near the Rim.  Stay to the right and you will arrive at the lovely El Tovar Hotel.  Quaint decor and display items of the movie "The Harvey Girls".  If you have time (or just plain need a pleasant rest), get a beverage in the cocktail bar (in/out)doors available.

Village Loop Dr W to Hermit Rd West will take you Hopi Pt for more views of the Canyon, but you may also like to see the Grand Canyon RR station.  Today the RR is using diesel, but there are special trips with a steam engine.  Investigate at Grand Caynon RR site

While you're there, you might see a majestic elk in the Rim Dr.
