Visitors to Mesa, Arizona have numerous options for getting around, which include by bus, taxi, car, and light rail (beginning in December of 2008).
The city of Mesa has a well organized bus system that is made up of two services: the Dial A Ride service and regular route service. The Dial A Ride service was created for the purpose of transporting people who are unable to use the regular bus system. The Valley Metro Bus System links much of the city with numerous routes. Taxis are a good way of getting around the immediate city of Mesa. Generally, taxis will be waiting outside of major public areas such as airports, train stations, bus stations, and large hotels. If outside of these areas, the best way to get a taxi is to call one of the agencies ahead of time to arrange for a pick-up. A personal vehicle is the most convenient form of transportation available in Mesa, as it allows the greatest freedom and flexibility in travel. Many people choose to fly into Phoenix, and then drive to Mesa. There are numerous Car Rental Agencies based around the Phoenix airport, and many Rental Agencies around Mesa as well.There is a Light Rail Project underway that will provide the city of Mesa with metro service beginning in December of 2008.
