Visitors to Mesa have a few options when it comes to public transportation, which include buses, trains, and taxis.

The city of Mesa has a well organized bus system that is made up of two services: the Dial A Ride service and regular route service.  The Dial A Ride service was created for the purpose of transporting people who are unable to use the regular bus system.  Passengers who qualify for this service need to call ahead of time to schedule a pick up.  The Valley Metro Bus System links much of the city with numerous routes.  For more information, check out this Bus Fare page and this Bus Routes page.

There is a Light Rail Project underway that will provide the city of Mesa with metro service beginning in December of 2008.

Taxis are a good way of getting around the immediate city of Mesa.   Generally, taxis will be waiting outside of major public areas such as airports, train stations, bus stations, and large hotels.   If outside of these areas, the best way to get a taxi is to call one of the agencies ahead of time to arrange for a pick-up.   For a list of companies located in or around the city, check out this Taxi Company List .   Fares are based on meters, which are government regulated and standard for all companies.
