Wonderful style, service, presentation, and fresh flavours dominante the dining experiences on Rarotonga. Recommended for both breakfast, lunch and dinner with a motu view is Sails Restaurant on Muri Beach, located at the Rarotonga Sailing club. Its prices are modest and the service efficient and friendly.

Nearby in Muri, the Flame Tree Restaurant offers a la carte dining within a garden setting. An excellent wine list consisting of mainly New Zealand and Australian wines, and a sophisticated menu including ocean fish such as swordfish, or mahi-mahi, served in delicious sauces which use coconut and lime.

The Tamarind is a short distance from Avarua, on the east side of the island in Tupapa.  Tamarind was a former Union Steam Ship company residence which now houses a collection of  old colonial photographs of British and Cook Island dignitiaries. The seafood and wine are both outstanding, as is the discrete service and politeness of the waiting staff.

For a change of cuisine, Stephano's pasta restaurant  in Muri Beach, serves Italian food, and is recommended. The pasta with prawns is excellent, and reasonably priced. This restaurant is licensed.
