Vistors generally arrive in Moorea in one of two ways: by air or by boat. Visitors arriving by air fly from Tahiti Faa'a International Airport, which is the only international airport serving French Polynesia. Tahiti is located 12 miles east of Moorea and visitors landing there can get to Moorea by way of a
small plane in a few minutes, or on a
ferry in about 30 minutes. Taxis and other types of ground transportation are available at both the airstrip and the ferry dock to take passengers to area hotels.
Visitors arriving on the island by sea will either come on one of the island's fast ferries, by private boat, or cruise ship. Cruise ships dock frequently off of Moorea's coast, sending passengers onto the island on smaller tender boats for a day of exploring. Ferries are available to Moorea from nearby Tahiti. A full listing of airlines and ferry companies that serve the island of Moorea is available at the Go Moorea website's
