By bus: Travelers who are spending time traveling throughout Central America may find that the bus is a good way to reach the Playas del Coco area. Travelers most frequently catch the bus from the large city of San Jose . Buses travel between the two locations daily; the trip takes 3 to 5 hours and costs between $8 and $40 depending on bus line used from San Jose. Pulmitan de Liberia offers direct service between Coco and the San Jose airport at a cost of $8. Gray Line offers service from the Holiday Inn Express 1 km from the San Jose airport to Coco. The taxi ride from the San Jose airport to the Holiday Inn Express should cost no more than $2.00US, 1,000 colones.
Pulmitan de Liberia buses travel between Coco and Liberia on an almost-hourly basis during the day. At the Liberia bus terminal, you can make connections to other locations such as north to the Nicaraguan border, south to Nicoya or beaches/resorts along the Nicoya penisula and San Jose.
Every Tuesday and Friday there is a shuttle service that picks up from Tamarindo and brings riders to Playas del Coco for $20. This service is hosted by Pure Vibes (+506 2670 0273) that is based in Playas del Coco. They also offer $5 off accommodation at their resort if you ride the shuttle.
