Shanghai must-do's

Stroll the Bund, admire the beautifully restored buildings and gawk at the futuristic skyline rising on the Pudong side.

Shop Nanjing Rd., billed as the #1 shopping street in Asia.  You could spend a week here and not cover it all. Alternatively, go to the ten story high Superbrands Mall in Pudong next to the Pearl Tower. Similar stores but air conditioned and a huge selection of food.

Yuyuan Garden, a traditional Chinese garden in the heart of the city.  Great souvenir shopping in the streets around this area. The snack cafeteria must be experienced.

The Oriental Pearl Television Tower, or alternatively, the 88th floor observation deck of Jinmao Tower, for sweeping panoramic views of the city. You can also get a beautiful view of the light displays on the buildings from a night time river cruisefor about the same price.

The Xiangyang Fashion and Gifts Market is now closed. However, many vendors have reappeared in the Science and Technology Museum Metro station on Line 2. You can get almost anything here pearls, clothes, silk bedding, bags and suitcases, eyeglasses and cameras.
