The Capital building of Montgomery is a magnificent structure much like the National Capitol building, with a large white dome/rotunda.  The architecture is rare as is that of the National Capitol.  This building witnessed two of the major turning points in American history: key  Civil WAr and Civil Rights events . A visit informs about both. With many other associated t buildings surrounding the property, it should be an interesting day. Nearby sites include the First White House of the Confedercy and Dexter Avenue Baptist Church( Martin Luther King's church in Montgomery  from which he led the Montgomery Bus Boycott).  A few blocks away is the Freedom Rides Museum and the Rosa Parks Museum.  The capitol is a working building and  on some days you can witness Senate and Legislature meetings.
