Here are some ideas about touring Delhi using the Metro. The Delhi Metro is the safest and cheapest form of transport in Delhi. There is a special coach reserved only for ladies - especially useful for solo women travelers.

Yellow Line: 


  • Delhi Haat - nice and safe place to pick souveniors. They also have food stalls from different states in India. Located just opposite the INA Metro Station
  • Qutub Minar: Another do it yourself destination. Get down at Qutub Minar Metro Station and catch the 10 minute bus/auto to Qutub complex. They have audio guides available in English and some other languages as well. Easily can spend 2-3 hours. Nice half Day trip.
  • Red Fort: Walking distance from Chandni Chowk Metro Station. Take Gate number 5 exit and catch a cycle rickshaw (~Rs. 10 per person) or walk till the red fort from the main street
  • Chandni Chowk: Experience the chaos and charm of markets and eateries in Old Delhi. Get down at Chandni Chowk Metro Station.
  • British Delhi: Get down at Central Secretariat Metro Station and explore the Presidential Palace, Secretariat Buildings and walk down the Raj Path till India Gate.
