This wat is suspected to be older than the "Ayutthaya Era" is located on the North edge of the Prah Ram Park in the center of town. It has two claims to fame. It was the location of one of the most beautiful bronze artifacts ever found in the area - a large dark Buddha head. The original head has been moved to Chao Sam Phraya museum for safe keeping, but a replica of the head has been put in it's place. The other unique charachter of the wat are the lion statues at the base of the ruined chedi, rather than the usual elephant heads. The lions are in remarkably good condition and obviously in the less prevelent Khmer style.
